Historical Event
There are many things that have occurred in my educational history that has shaped me into the person I have become today, but one sticks out above the rest. At our high school we had the opportunity to do a internship or cadet teach during the last semester of our senior year. I was trying to decide if becoming a elementary teacher would be the thing for me so I decided to cadet teach. So for the last hour of every day I would go to the elementary school next door and help in a second grade classroom. Ever since I walked into the room the first day I loved being around the children and helping them with their work. As I got to know the students and their personalities it became easier to help them with their assignments. There was one day when the teacher was sick and we had a sub for the day. During my time there the sub became sick and they called for someone to come in but that never happened. For about two hours I followed Miss Glenn's lesson book and taught the class by myself. I was comfortable in that setting and being there throughout the year made it easy for me to continue with the normal procedures. The other second grade teachers told me how responsible I was and what a great teacher I would make. When I got home I told my mom that I was certain that I wanted to be a teacher. Sadly the year ended and I had to say goodbye to my students who I had taught lessons to, helped with assignments, and even gone on field trips with. I believe that cadet teaching in high school is a great way to find out if teaching is for you.

When doing something like saying goodbye is tougher than than actual 'work' you know you are in the right field. Great reflection!
